FAQ
Q. 1 What is Metal Recovery & how much is it for Supratherme (AWS: E7018) ?
Ans. Metal recovery is the ratio of weight of weld metal deposited to the weight of core wire melted. For Supratherme (AWS: E7018) metal recovery is 115%.

Q. 2 What do you mean by Touch Electrode in Medio (AWS: E6013) ?
Ans. In Chinese / cheaper electrode, usually welder faces a problem of arc striking or knocking of electrode before use, where as in Medio (AWS: E6013) can operate even with 45 OCV (Open Circuit Voltage) that is a special characteristic of "Touch & Start welding" without any hassle.

Q. 3 What is Hydrogen content & Impact Strength of Supratherme (AWS: E7018) ?
Ans. As per AWS standard Supratherme (AWS: E7018) fulfills H8 level of hydrogen that is hydrogen content less than 8 ml per 100 gms of weld metal. CVN Impact strength of Supratherme (AWS: E7018) is 65 Joules at -30° C.

Q. 4 Which is the electrode in D&H Sécheron brand for welding of any two metals with unknown chemical composition (unknown dissimilar metals) ?
Ans. Lotherme 468 is the most recommended electrode for above application.

Q. 5 What is the economics of FCAW compare / over SMAW ?
Ans. FCAW becomes economical over SMAW mainly because of the very high deposition rates. When cost of welding is taken in totality, i.e. when we consider the cost of welder, overheads, power etc. in total for one kg of weld metal deposited, FCAW works out very economical. This of course depends upon the application and the labour overheads of each organization. Generally, for continuous welding of bulk components (wherever organized labour is involved), FCAW is found to be not only economical but also very reliable in terms of quality. Maxfil 12 R (AWS: E71T1) is a product of D&H Sécheron.

Q. 6 What is FN (Ferrite Number) in Stainless Steel Welding Consumables ?
Ans. It is the measure of Ferrite phase present in Austenitic stainless steel. Presence of ferrite also compensate drawbacks of sulphur, phosphorus & other impurities in stainless steel. Application where corrosion resistant is of primary importance, ferrite number should be minimum.
