Cromotherme-12 is a lime-fluoride type electrode yielding a deposit containing 11Cr - 0.5Ni - 1.0Mo - 0.3V - 0.5W. The weld metal has excellent creep and oxidation resistant properties up to 700 C. The electrode is used for welding creep resistant 12Cr steels in turbines, steam boilers and chemical plant, where operating otemperatures of the order of 600 C are encountered. Following are some of the creep-resistant steels that can be welded.
DIN: X 20 Cr Mo 12 1, X 22 Cr Mo V 12 1 , X 20 Cr Mo W V 12 1, G X 22 Cr Mo MV 12 1
1. Re-dry the electrodes at 250-300 C for one hour, as per our standard recommended practice.
2. Use short arc and stringer bead.
